Rules

5500c to a exile that manages to put together a text passage with music such that the text tells a story of any sequence of events that have happened in the lands. The story should be interesting entertaining and informative to exiles in general. Including actual exiles, clans, NPC's, or special world char are a plus. The story does not have to be factual although something along the lines of your story must have happened. Having the story/song allow for new sequences as things unfold in the future would also be a plus. Having it close with a prophecy a theory a hope or a belief of whats to come also a plus. Also a big bonus if you use the less known special world char or the less known exile events in what you do. The story and the music both must be enjoyed by the judges.

Sorry Writers/Bard's more concrete things cant be specified to drive off of. This will be mostly a subjective decision based on judges preferences. The first one presented to the judges that passes the above will receive the 5500c.

Any others that wish to contribute 1000c to see this type of work can become another judge in who gets all the coins. Only individuals can contribute and be a judge. All judges have veto on the combined coin prize. It requires a unanimous decision by all judges to receive the coins. Other judges must give Klur the 1000c up front to participate. A max of 10 judges will only be accepted and judges will be taken on a first come first serve basis. See Klur in the lands or send me e-mail if you wish to judge if you can not be available from 8:00pm-11:00pm PST you will not be able to be a judge.

Only the contestant that asks to listen to their work will be given the coins regardless of how many bards are involved in playing the music or how many different people write the story. See Klur in the lands or send e-mail for an audience when your ready all audiances will be held during the hours from 8:00pm-11:00pm PST.

This page will be kept updated based on the number of judges and who they are so you can get an idea of who your audience is and what your current prize would be.

TrepDevilNo PrizeYes, it was enjoyable, but I'd like to see something with a more serious attitude.
HealeryAward PrizeI found it interesting, entertaining, and informative. It coordinated words and music well, and told the story of events in the lands.
KlurNo PrizeI enjoyed the music and the story very much. However I was looking for something would teach more to the audiance about the history of puddleby.
KodoAward PrizeI enjoyed the story, the music... the tone was wonderful... it did teach...
PerkusiAward PrizeWell I was under the impression that it could be any event in the lands.... and nobody would argue the significance of THIS event!
Coriakin & XelKlurAward PrizeYour music is excellent. Your story was what I was looking for. However when I listend to Trep's work I could sing the story. But, this matches what I had in mind so I would award the prize.
KodoNo PrizeI enjoyed a lot of things about your performance... you were awesomely cooridniated. the music was great However... I didn't think it matched... even when it wasn't supposed to to make it light hearted... and I didn't really get into the story...
PerkusiAward PrizeI enjoyed the story and the music very much. I wasn't sure the music of the second part (Egg goes to Town) matched the story, but... Overall I though it was a great historical tale and braught with wonderful music.
SutaiKlurNo PrizeI found the story very good. It was what I was looking for. The presentation was also very fun. Very different style than the rest. The narration was a little fast for me. It distracted me a lot. So I will have to say no for prize.
PerkusiNo PrizeSutai always has the most wonderful and unique ways of telling stories. He is also a great musician. But like Klur I had a very hard time hearing everything Sutai said.
HealeryAward PrizeI guess I have good ears. =) I ha no problem hering the narration. The story was well told, entertaining, and informative. My only quibble would have been that the music and text didn't feel well integrated, at times. I applaud Sutai for a job well done.
KodoAward PrizeThis was performance art... and while there was no chorus to sing along with... I thought the musc set the scene and accompanied the story well.. I loved the chirping birds. I truly enjoyed the whiz bang style of telling...
Coriakin & Xel (Rakshasa)KlurAward PrizeAgain I enjoyed both the story and the music.I would again award the prize.
PerkusiAward PrizeI vote yes for the song/story.... I like the variety of music, and the story was well done.
HealeryAward PrizeI like the theme of the piece, presenting a historical event for posterity. I too would award the prize.
DevilAward Prizewell...I'm really sorry to do this I know you all worked hard...but ah well, I say yes

Questions/Answers

  1. How are duets or trios handled? Is the money divided among the group, or is the money awarded to one Bard?

Only one person asks for an audience that person will receive the coins. What that one person does with the coins is up to them. If the show that one person puts on included multiple wirters and bards/questers it is up to that one person to resolve how to divide the prize.

  2. Is there a minimum or maximum length to the song/story?

    No.

  3. Can non-bards enter with just stories? Does there have to be music?

    No. Yes.

Their must be both music and story.

  4. Can a non-bard team up with a bard and play the bard play "background" music while the story is told (meaning can a bard play some of his old music while the story is being told, or does the music need to be written specifically for this story)?

Old music new music doesn't matter as long as the show passes the requirements it will get the prize. Multiple writers, Multiple bards, multiple actors/speakers you can do a entire show if you think it will win the prize.

  5. Is money the only donation that is required to become a judge? Could someone become a judge by donating an instrument part?

    Yes. No.

Money is the only way to become a judge. You can donate a part to be awarded as a part of the prize if you want.

  6. Is there a way for folk who do not clan during these hours to enter this contest (example: for someone on the east coast the hours translate into 11:00pm to 2:00am)?

The weekends we can be more flexible with. The times are not an absolute but they help guide things.

  7. Can you expand a little more on what it is your after?

This contest was created as a result of watching a lot of people complain about how Dal all of a sudden lost all bounties for noths. Many people started getting upset. Well I wrote a little story about this based on the sequence of events as I saw them and posted it to the news group. This made me think their are probably many sequences of events that have happened in the lands that would be good for us to capture and tell to remind our self's as well as new exiles. Things that will help make new exiles feel more a part of some of the more significant things that have happened or are happening. What are some things that come to mind well their are the real obvious things that books could probably be written about, Tenebrion, Bartok, Zonk, Votekith, Qual, the alter destruction, pendants and purgatory, the catapult, balance tax, the ripture wars their are other things like Vampires, Nox Sora activities, game warden, government, MOCHA, FMOCR, their are tons of things with in and between clans like RQ, PM, OWE, POS, RC. Their are just so many different items that I think would be good to have stories about for new exiles in the land to hear. I'm sure many of you can come up with even more. Stories that have significance today and that a new exile may run into or may have a chance to influence.
